Sharon Johnson, PhD is a professor and director of the Center for Family Research and Policy within the School of Social Work at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.  She received her bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Arkansas in 1989 and has advanced degrees in social work (MSW, PhD) and psychiatric epidemiology (MPE) from Washington University.  Her mental health research examines violence, HIV-risk, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, and substance use disorders in minorities, women, and adolescents.


The Role of Mothers in Urban Youth Trauma Experiences

The presentation focuses on the role of mothers in youth’s trauma experiences by examining how maternal psychopathology may influence reporting and treatment seeking.

  • Participants will explore implications of reporting differences on treatment and help-seeking.
