Beyond Words: Experiencing the Power of Music to Help Heal Trauma, Matt McGaughey
Attendees will build on the basics of the 6R’s of Effective Therapeutic Interventions (from Session 1) to learn more about how these strategies naturally fit into the Expressive Arts, specifically with a range of music programs. Additional case studies and programs highlighting this will be shared. Much of this session will be hands on, with participants engaging in a music making session (drumming, songwriting, rhythm games) to better illustrate how to use the power of music to provide trauma informed interventions.
Attendees will be able to apply:
- Techniques to effectively use music and rhythm with clients.
- Their first-hand experience of trauma-informed music and rhythm interventions and process the creative experience with others.
- The 6R’s of Effective Therapeutic Interventions to a creative music experience
